The new James Bond game, Quantum Solace, has you playing the savvy, uncompromising British spy. Using the same engine as used in Call of Duty 4, Quantum Solace has some pretty good graphics. Additionally, Treyarch has added a 3PS element to the game. When your character takes cover, the 3PS kicks-in and you can watch as your character takeout the bad guys. The added 3PS element feels as though it was an afterthought and tacked-on to the game and detracts from the gameplay. If this demo is an accurate representation of the game, many gamers might be disappointed.
Despite the proven track record Treyarch has with making high quality graphics in their COD game line, playing Quantum of Solace with high-end graphics settings resulted in jumpy gameplay and would sometimes make the game unplayable, and that is with testing on a high-end system. Another element that could have been added to increase the realism of the game, is the ability to shoot through softer cover materials, such as wood or thinner stone objects. When compared to Goldeneye 007, Quantum Solace leaves a lot to be desired. It may not be fair to judge the entire game based off of a demo, but we have to go with what we got.
